Svenskkul Event page - put on hold

Svenskkul has closed down the school sessions. If you a keen to start up the school again we have some material stored to help you get started. Please contact svenskkul_info@sweden.org.nz for more information.

We will continue to run our family fun Sunday Events once a month in cooperation with the Sweden-New Zealand Association. Information about these events will be posted on the Sweden-New Zealand Association's event page.

Svenskkuls event page will be put on hold until further notice. It is our sincere hope that someone will pick up this function sometime in the future as it has been a fantastic experience to see the kids extend their Swedish knowledge and amazing to see the friendship grow between our "Swiwi" kids of all ages.

Svenskkul is closing down the school sessions

Due to lack of school age children Svenskkul has decided to close down the Tuesday school sessions.
Since we started in 2005 we have had approximate 27 kids learning to read and write at Svenskkul. 11 of these kids are now back in Sweden and the majority of the rest have "out-grown" Svenskkul.
A big THANK YOU to all the families who helped start up and run Svenskkul's school sessions throughout the years, WELL DONE!
Since we started in 2005 we have had more than 40 playgroup children coming for a play. The majority of these kids are still in Wellington and will soon reach school age. If any of you are keen to start up the school sessions again, we are more than happy to help out. Some school material will be stored for future use. Please contact us on: svenskkul_info@sweden.org.nz

We intend to keep up with the Sunday Fun Events once a month. These events will run in cooperation with the Sweden-New Zealand Association and information will be posted on their Event page, http://swedennewzealand.blogspot.com/ (rather than on this page).

We have 2 sessions planned for the rest of this year:
- Julpyssel (Xmas craft) on the 21st November
- Children's Christmas/Luica party on the 12th December

Keep an eye out for these Events!

After school tonight

We've had a few birthdays in the school group lately and to celebrate this we thought it would be nice if the kids and parents of the school group could go to one of the local cafe's in kandallah and have tea after school today.

Morsdag gifts

We were a small group today, but enough to have our AGM. Thanks to all of you who made it! Hope you all made some great bargains. I certainly got some great books and movies for the kids.
The creations made by the kids were amazing - to say the least :-) For those of you who can't remember - bake in oven for 1-2 hours, 100C. Leave to dry for approx 24h. And here is a hot tip. Once dry, buy a magnet and glue to the back and you will have a fabulous looking fridge magnet for mothers day.
Maybe even a good gift to send home as mothers day in Sweden is only 4weeks away!
That is actually when our next get together is - last Sunday in May. We are planning a zoo trip! More info later.

Bytarday - Exchange day, Sunday the 25th April.

On popular demand Svenskkul will have an Exchange day on Sunday the 25th April.
How does it work?
Bring your kids outgrown clothes, toys, dvds, videos, games, books (books for mum is very popular) etc, that you are willing to donate to Svenskkul.
We will set up a few tables with all the stuff donated.
Bring some money as well and you may pick anything you like for a gold coin donation per item.
This is a perfect way for us to do some fundraising, and for you to “exchange” some of your used stuff for someone else’s used stuff :-) Great bargains to be made!

For the kids:
We will do some lovely mothers day gifts out of “trolldeg”.
AGM:
We need to borrow the last 30 minutes of the Sunday for a quick AGM. Coffee and Anzac biscuits will be provided.

When: Sunday 25th April
Time: 10-12 am
Where: Cornerstone Community Centre in Kandallah

Going to Napier anyone??

Anyone planning a trip to Napier?

A Swedish family in Napier has very kindly donated some Swedish children's books to us and we would love to have them. Only thing is, the cost of posting the books would be expensive, so we are hoping someone travelling to Napier would be willing to pick up the books for us and bring them back to Wellington?

If you are this person, please contact svenskkul@sweden.org.nz or Eva on: 021-0668612.
